Know the real appointment
The official appointment has 110 total questions.
NASAA’s current Series 66 guide identifies 100 scored questions and 10 unidentified pretest questions. Candidates receive 150 minutes and must answer at least 73 of the 100 scored questions correctly to pass.
NASAA and FINRA listed the fee as $177 when this page was reviewed. Fees and rules can change; verify the current sources before acting.
The Series 7 relationship
Series 7 and Series 66 are corequisites.
NASAA says Series 66 is designed for dual broker-dealer agent and investment adviser representative competency. Series 7 must also be completed satisfactorily before someone can apply for state registration based on Series 66. NASAA says either exam may be taken first.
An unaffiliated individual may be able to enroll for Series 66 through FINRA, while Series 7 itself requires sponsorship. That makes enrollment sequence different from registration eligibility.
Combined exam does not mean automatic registration
NASAA says Series 66 can qualify someone as if Series 63 and Series 65 were passed, but passing Series 66 and Series 7 still does not itself confer authority to transact business. State requirements, applications, firm affiliation, and the activities performed remain relevant.
Practice without false certainty
One complete form, two useful modes.
- Full 110: an appointment-length simulation with a 2:30:00 clock.
- Quick 10: a shorter mixed sprint for retrieval and mistake repair.
- Immediate rationales: connect the principle to the representative’s decision.
- Mistake vault: keep missed and uncertain concepts visible for later recall.
- Private local progress: practice stays on this device unless structured sync is explicitly connected.
Honest limit: this beta contains one original appointment-length Series 66 form. Repeating it can measure memory of the bank instead of fresh readiness. Use the current NASAA guide and additional independently reviewed materials.
First 100 questions
Laws and conduct carry nearly half the scored blueprint.
The final 10 Role by Role items are transparent mixed-subject practice in the same number of positions as the official appointment’s unidentified pretest questions. They are not represented as psychometrically equivalent.
Join rules to advice
Use the 45-question law section as the anchor.
- Weight study honestly. Laws, regulations, guidelines, and unethical practices account for 45 of 100 scored questions.
- Keep advice connected to client facts. Product knowledge becomes useful when you can match risks, costs, taxes, liquidity, and strategy to the customer’s circumstances.
- Distinguish exam routes. Know what Series 66 combines, what Series 7 supplies, and what neither exam alone authorizes.
- Turn every legal miss into a decision rule. Record the actor, jurisdiction, trigger, required action, and prohibited action.
- Protect one realistic 150-minute session. Use its mistakes to determine the next short recall block.
A Role by Role score is a study signal—not an official result, pass probability, employer assessment, or registration status.
